Philadelphia Eagles: Nick Foles Gets Another Chance

Chip Kelly and the Philadelphia Eagles have chosen their starting quarterback for the upcoming game against the Oakland Raiders.

Nick Foles was just cleared to play on Tuesday and now, once again, he is the starter. Foles took over for an injured Michael Vick just a few weeks ago, gaining two victories before suffering a disastrous performance and injury in a huge divisional game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Now, he’s been given the keys to franchise once again. Foles has another, and probably final chance to prove that he is the man that should lead this team into the future. Any hiccups along the way, and Kelly will most likely move on, looking into the draft and finding what he needs to run the offense he wants.

Foles is obviously not the prototype QB for the Kelly offense, but he normally does a great job protecting the football and has proven that he can keep the pace high and lead the Eagles consistently. Putting the Dallas game behind him and getting back to the success he had beforehand will be the biggest key to his return. If the Eagles can help Foles find the groove he was in prior to that matchup, they could still be able to contend and make some noise in the NFC East.

At this point, it’s just too difficult to tell the what the right direction is for this Eagles’ team. If Foles can play solidly over the remainder of the season and demonstrate the ability to dependably lead, the Eagles may decide that the right direction is to keep him around. He’s playing for his job in Philadelphia or auditioning for other teams around the league for a future job. Either way, Foles needs to succeed.
