For those of you who are regular readers of my work should already know that I have the Baltimore Ravens defeating the Cleveland Browns, since that was one of the games I picked for my 5 NFL Teams That Will Definitely Win In Week 9 article I wrote earlier in the week. If you didn’t check out that article yet, give it a quick read, I’ll wait.
OK, now that you’re back, I’ll go over a few scenarios that could go down in this game.
First scenario I see could be like the Ravens last visit to Cleveland. Coming off a bye (like they are now), the Ravens started off a house of fire, taking an early 14-0 lead. They decided to take a nap for the second and third quarters as the Browns took the lead on five-straight field goals 15-14. The Ravens awoke from their slumber and scored on the next drive and would later ice the game with a field goal, 25-15. In all honesty, I could see this game going the exact same route.
Second scenario I see is a pretty ho-hum 3-3 game that gets broken open by a long Josh Gordon touchdown, followed immediately by some fluky Joe Flacco tipped interception return for a touchdown giving the Browns a shocking 17-3 lead. The Ravens would find a way to tie it 17-17, and from there it would be anyone’s guess.
Third scenario I see is one of those ugly weather, boring, punting, all field goals 9-6 snooze fest.
Personally, I think they’ll be elements from every scenario I just mentioned. I haven’t called this finish in a while, so here goes. The Ravens will be clinging to a 16-10 lead late in the fourth quarter. The Browns will be driving, all the while I’ll be thinking of ways to talk my father off the ledge with promises of how good the 2014 Ravens will be, when suddenly Jason Campbell serves one up to Lardarius Webb for the pick-six dagger. Of course, I’d prefer a 42-10 blowout so I could relax for once.
Ravens 23, Browns 10.
