5 Baltimore Ravens Players That Need To Step Up In Week 10 vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Evan Habeeb-USA Today Sports

Are we all ready for the weekly Baltimore Ravens players that need to step up list? Probably as ready for the Ravens to actually win a game? Right? The Ravens are in critical condition and could desperately use a win at home against the AFC North leading Cincinnati Bengals. Before we go over the key players for this game, let’s see how I did last week.

The five players I had on my list of players that needed to step up against the Cleveland Browns last week were Lardarius Webb, Haloti Ngata, Ray Rice, Jacoby Jones and Sam Koch. Not a very good week for my big five at all, but I can admit when I’ve been humbled. Ngata and Jones were decent for the most part, but the other three are a different story. Rice ran for a grand total of 17 yards on 11 carries. Just to prove how bad that is, he was outgained on the ground by slow-as-molasses Joe Flacco. Webb had another bad game in coverage as Davone Bess made him look foolish on a catch and run touchdown early in the second quarter. Koch failed to pin the Browns back on a few occasions and shanked his last punt, which gave the Browns better field position then they should have had.

Week 9 is history, so let’s try this again. The following five players need to step it up big time in this critical Week 10 matchup against the Bengals. Enjoy the show.

5. Joe Flacco

Flacco had a rough go of it against the Browns last Sunday. He was off target on several throws and threw a really bad interception, even for him. Luckily, the Bengals secondary can be exposed by Flaccos' big arm. I don't know what it is about the Bengals, but Flacco usually has his best games against them. That will need to continue if the Ravens want to get back in the mix.

4. Daryl Smith

I'm sure everyone has seen Giovanni Bernard's crazy 35-yard touchdown run in last Thursday nights 22-20 loss to the Miami Dolphins right? That was one of the most amazing plays I've seen in a while. Daryl Smith will need to be on top of his game to tackle that dude in open space.

3. Torrey Smith

I think we're long overdue for a monster game from Torrey Smith. With Bengals top corner Leon Hall out for the year, Smith will be matched up with Terrance Newman and Adam Jones (Pacman). The Ravens' offense has struggled to put long drives together. They'll need to hit a couple of big pass plays if they hope to win.

2. Elvis Dumervil

Speaking of being overdue for a monster game. How about Elvis Dumervil? I've been waiting for the "three sack plus one forced fumble" game for a while. The pass rush for the Ravens has been one of the bright spots of the team this year. They'll need to keep it up to help cover up an underperforming secondary.

1. Tandon Doss

Brad Mills-USA Today Sports

Marlon Brown will probably start getting more attention from opposing defenses. Tandon Doss will need to step up in the receiving game. Doss could be the guy that Flacco looks to on the crucial third-down plays. Doss also needs to put forth a good effort in the return game where he's excelled this year, besides the big gaffe in Cleveland last week.
