The Baltimore Ravens have not done a good job over the last month of sustaining leads. Who are we kidding? The Ravens haven’t held a lead in their last three games. That isn’t on the Ravens’ defense, but rather the offense.
In six of the eight games the Ravens have played this year, their opponents have scored first. Combine that with the fact that the Ravens have almost made it a religious ritual to go three and out on their first possession on offense this year, and you begin to see why this team struggles to do the little things well.
Who is to blame for all of this? It’s easy to look at Joe Flacco and I know that is the popular thing to do these days, but he isn’t to blame if you look at the situation objectively.
When I look at the situation with the offensive line not firing off the ball the way they are supposed to on a consistent basis, I blame them mostly because they are hurting the passing game with the amount of hits Flacco is taking. As well, they’re affecting a running game that is arguably the worst I have ever seen in the sport.
When Ray Rice and Bernard Pierce are unable to find running room and hesitant to hit the lane they are supposed to run through, you know it’s a total mess.
