NFL Week 11 Point Spread Preview: Indianapolis Colts at Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans (4-5) and Indianapolis Colts (6-3) both attempt to get back on track after horrific home losses by facing each other. The Jacksonville Jaguars grabbed win No. 1 of the season in Tennessee and the St. Louis Rams thumped on Indy today.
NFL Week 11 Matchup, Game Time and TV Info: Indianapolis Colts at Tennessee Titans (8:25 p.m. ET on NFL Network)
Predicted Point Spread: Colts by 4.5 (Early spread: Colts by 3)
Tennessee is the only team with any remote chance at catching Indy in the AFC South and has two remaining shots at the current leader. The Titans took two losses under the brutal quarterback play of Ryan Fitzpatrick but looked a contender for the most part with Jake Locker under center, until he left injured yet again today. Once an extremely erratic passer, Locker had improved his completion mark by roughly five percentage points and his accuracy percentage by about two points from last season.
Locker has his issues against pressure and league sack-leader Robert Mathis can provide that for the Colts. When this happens Tennessee must lean on Chris Johnson and now-healthy Shonn Greene. And neither of these are reliable things. If Indy struggles to run then the weight of the world falls on Andrew Luck‘s shoulders yet again and the weight gets heavier with Reggie Wayne is out. Fortunately TY Hilton is showing the talent of a bona fide No. 1.
Key Matchup: Titans DT Jurrell Casey vs. Colts interior OL
Indy made a semi-concerted effort to bolster its woeful interior this offseason but injuries and the return of Mike McGlynn to the starting lineup (who left injured in today’s game) have led to this gaping void plaguing Luck and the run game once again. Enter Jurrell Casey, who entered today ranking among DTs in Pro Football Focus’ pass-rush productivity metric.
