One of the crazier rumors of 2013 has been the possibility of the Minnesota Vikings trading Adrian Peterson. The franchise running back is clearly the best in the league at what he does, but there’s no doubt the Vikings could get a lot assets in return for him. For a team that’s headed for a last place finish in the NFC North, assets might not be the worst thing. But after all the buzz across the internet and on NFL shows this year, the star RB has finally spoken up on his future intentions:
“I definitely wouldn’t mind playing here. I feel like we have the right pieces and we can continue to get some more pieces as well to help build this team and make us even stronger. So, no.”
‘No’ in the final part of the quote is Peterson saying that he doesn’t want to go anywhere else. However, he also said that he understands the NFL is a business and that he would understand if he was traded. So long story short, I believe Peterson is content with where he’s at for now, but you never know if a couple more losing seasons might change his mind.
I don’t think the Vikings should trade Peterson. Even though running backs aren’t nearly as important as they once were, that doesn’t apply to AP. We’ve seen just how dominating he can be and if the Vikings ever get a top-notch quarterback to pair with him, the sky will no doubt be the limit.
