How are haters going to hate on Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant for doing a good deed?
I’m not a huge fan of Bryant and his childish antics on the football field, but even I have to admit that I’m impressed after he bought numerous copies of Playstation 4 for shoppers who stood in line at a Wal-Mart in Dallas.
Several people took pictures and expressed their gratitude on Twitter about Bryant’s decision to give out generous gifts.
“Damn, @DezBryant just bought whoever was in line at a Walmart in Dallas a PS4,” @MRodgers2405 tweeted
“Holy crap, @Dez Bryant is cool … just bought a bunch of people PS4s, wish I was there lol,” tweeted Ben Freeman.
Several comments across various news outlets that have written articles about the story suggest that Bryant should have given the money he spent on the PS4s to charity, opposed to people who were already prepared to spend money on the brand new game console.
There is also the legitimate possibility that this was no more than a publicity stunt after the general consensus among football fans is Bryant is a spoiled athlete. Obviously, his tirade in the loss against the Detroit Lions a few weeks ago left a sour taste in many people’s mouths. I can’t imagine it would surprise anyone if his publicist made sure he was out and about giving back with a photographer on site.
Whatever the reason Bryant decided to do something nice for his fans, I’m glad he went through with it. It is certainly better to the contrary, which is him not giving back to the community.
