New York Giants: Right Back in Contention With Victory Today
After starting the season with six straight losses, everyone began counting out the New York Giants. Four straight wins later and now everyone can put the G-Men right back into NFC East contention.
At one point, the Dallas Cowboys were favored to end the season with the division crown. Although, that may still be true, it’s far from a sure thing. The Giants aren’t the only hot team right now in the NFC East though. Nick Foles has the Philadelphia Eagles currently in front of Dallas, New York and the Washington Redskins, whose chances of winning the division may have been squashed for good with their lost in Philly today.
Tony Romo has played the best at quarterback in the NFC East, but lately Foles has been crazy good and even though Eli Manning started the season out on the wrong foot, it’s his arm that can still carry the Giants to a postseason berth. It still remains to be seen which quarterback fully steps up down the stretch, but all three are great options at this point.
Romo and the Cowboys have defeated all three of their opposing teams in the NFC East, but playing .500 ball will not get the job done in the long run. Being on a hot streak late in the season is always a good thing and tends to help teams in the playoffs. The question is whether or not the Giants and Eagles can maintain this play all the way to the finish line.
The NFC East is the worst division this season, but it very well may be the most entertaining down the homestretch of the season.
