In recent weeks, the Atlanta Falcons have fallen into the terrible habit of ignoring opposing running backs. One back after another has absolutely had their way with the Falcons defense. Week 11 was Bobby Rainey’s turn.

As the Tampa Bay Buccaneers cruised to a 41-28 victory in front of their home crowd, Rainey made himself known to the NFL. The rookie racked up 30 carries for 163 yards and three total scores. Although this performance was the story of the game, Rainey was not the only first year player to have an impressive day at the office.

Mike Glennon put together a solid effort for the Buccaneers in their second consecutive win. The young quarterback completed 20 of 23 pass attempts for 231 yards, a couple of touchdowns and no interceptions. The third-round draft pick out of North Carolina State is giving the team a few things to think about when it comes to the future at the position.

Glennon has now thrown for over 1,500 yards with 11 touchdown passes in seven games this season. Over the last four outings, he has committed just one turnover and is showing the ability to lead an offense at the professional level.

At 2-8, the Bucs do not have a sliver of hope for the postseason. However, the combination of Glennon and Rainey could spell trouble for the opponents remaining on their schedule. Playing the role of spoiler, they will very likely have a say as to who claims the NFC South between the Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints.
