Week 11 in the NFL featured a phenomenal NFC matchup between two excellent defenses. Between the New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers, this matchup boasted plenty of playmakers on both sides of the ball but, specifically, the defenses have been outstanding.
Oh, and Drew Brees is pretty good too.
Brees is on pace for another 5,000 yard season this year and the Saints have looked much different this year than last. On Sunday, the Saints took home a close victory over San Francisco that came down to the waning seconds. For Brees and company, it was another step in keeping up with the current number one seed, NFC-leading Seattle Seahawks.
As the Seahawks take this next week to rest during a bye, the Saints get the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night football. In what would have been a completely different game a year ago, the Saints will likely walk out with a feasible win, leading up into a week 13 showdown in Seattle.
Quarterback Russell Wilson is undefeated at home, but the Saints might come in as the perfect team set to give him his first loss in front of the “12th man.” After this contest, we just might know who the top seed in the NFC will wind up being. If the Saints pull out a victory, they will then have to hold tight of that number one seed. Before the season is over, the Saints have two huge games.
Those two games just happen to be against the Carolina Panthers. With the way the Panthers have been playing as of late, maybe week 13 won’t be the end-all, be-all in the NFC. What we do know right now is that in two weeks the conference will see one of the best games they have seen all year long.
