10 Must-See Potential Reality Shows For the Kansas City Chiefs

aa
Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

On Oct. 8 in a controversial decision, team owners approved a measure that allows the NFL to decide which team will be featured on the HBO reality series “Hard Knocks”. Teams with new coaches, teams that have reached the playoffs in the previous two seasons, or teams have been on the show in the last 10 years are exempt from being forced to do it but can still volunteer.

It was a laughably weird decision by league owners who apparently don’t believe in distractions. The show is a complete invasion of a team’s training camp, as film and sound crews have unencumbered access to the players’ and coaches’ meeting rooms, training rooms, living quarters and practice fields.

It’s strange enough that teams have agreed to do this voluntarily in the past, but forcing a team to give complete access of their training camp and preseason to a film crew is insane. It shows the league is more interested in branding and being a spectacle than a level playing field.

Fortunately for the Kansas City Chiefs, they won’t have to worry about it until 2018 because they were featured on the program in 2007. It’s highly unlikely they would willingly do it again under Andy Reid's regime, but you never know. He’s dealt with likes of Terrell Owens, Michael Vick and DeSean Jackson so maybe he doesn’t mind a little sideshow. If not, here are some better ideas for reality shows involving the Chiefs they are more than welcome to use.

10. What’s My Que? with Andy Reid

In his short time in Kansas City, Reid has already become an expert on the area barbeque. If you ask him, he can tell you who has the best ribs, burnt ends, pulled pork and so on. This show would have Reid traveling the country critiquing the nation’s best barbeque spots.

9. The Ultimate Fighter: Chiefs Edition

While I don’t want to see anybody on the team get hurt, I am very curious about who is the best fighter. Obviously the NFL is going to have to force people to do this show as well.

In this version, the Chiefs Cheerleaders are each holding a case with a different NFL contract inside. Some are more than what the player is worth and some less. As the contracts are revealed and eliminated as possibilities, John Dorsey will play banker and offer the player a deal based on which contracts are still in play.

7. Running Into the Kickers with The Colquitt Family

Follow the Colquitt family as father Craig and brothers Dustin and Britton invite you into the lives of the NFL's first family of punters. Watch as the brothers try to keep their family values while punting for AFC West rivals. As a former NFL punter who passed down the ‘family business’, Craig still has a lot to teach the boys about life, love, and punting.

6. The Bachelor with Eric Berry and the Chiefs Cheerleaders

Eric Berry is a no-brainer as the star. If people are going to watch a competition for fake love on a dumb show, it might as well feature a hilarious person like Berry.

5. D.J. The Bounty Hunter

There is no better person to be tracking down the bad guys than the man who is on pace for his fourth-straight season with 120+ tackles. Team Captain Derrick Johnson is one of the last people you want trying to hunt you down. If Dog and those other morons can do it, just imagine how successful Johnson could be.

Every season prior to OTAs, all of the lineman who aren’t quite ready for football will compete in one of television’s most humiliating competitions since Fear Factor.

3. American Gladiators: Chiefs Edition

Who wouldn’t love to see average guys up against Justin Houston and Tamba Hali in Powerball, or Jamaal Charles and Dwayne Bowe in Atlasphere? Instead of shooting tennis balls, Alex Smith could just throw footballs at people.

2. Horsin’ Around with Eric Berry and William Shatner

With the help of horse enthusiast William Shatner, Berry takes on his fear of the animal made famous from the viral video in which he panics as Chiefs’ mascot Warpaint rides around the field. Shatner would teach Berry to care for, breed, and ride the horses on his Belle Reve farm in Kentucky. Shatner and Berry are two incredibly entertaining people, and Berry’s antics combined with Shatner's reactions to the situations would be hilarious.

1. Joe Millionaire: Chiefs Edition

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

I’m not sure who, but odds are at least a few people on the Chiefs' 53-man roster are really bad with money. In this show we would have gold-digging women compete for the affection of someone who they think is a rich football player only to to reveal in the last episode that he is a broke football player.
