On October 4, 2013, the New York Giants made the trade of the year for linebacker Jon Beason. Week in and week out this guy has completely changed the dynamic of the Giants, and opposing offenses are nervous to face the newly vaunted defense.

The former Carolina Panthers stud was benched after the first two weeks of the regular season. Not only did he lose his job on the 0-2 Panthers team, but his replacement was Chase Blackburn, a linebacker that previously played on the Giants just last year.

The former Pro-Bowler was coming off of multiple crippling injuries from the past few seasons that halted his progression as one of the league’s top linebackers, something that just a few years ago was certainly in the conversation.

After being completely written off from the NFL and the Panthers organization, Beason was traded to the Giants for a 7th round pick. That’s right, the former star linebacker that instilled fear into offenses across the league was traded away for just a late round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Well, the sleepers on this man have certainly woken up after completely turning around the Giants defense as of late. Giants fans are witnessing some of the best play from Beason in his career, including from his days in college. And it is clearly apparent that his teammates are completely on-board with his win-now, possessed attitude.

With the stud addition to the middle of the defense for the Giants, opposing offenses are struggling to find rhythm in any facet of the game. The opposing run game has been completely shutout of the equation, and the pass is suffering because of it. The Giants are on a four-game winning streak following the 0-6 start and are only 1.5 games out of first place of the NFC East.

Beason is clearly not just a leading candidate for the NFL Comeback Player of the Year, but he’s also possibly the NFL Defensive Player of the Year for his incredible contributions to the formerly struggling Giants team.

Big Blue are a completely different team when Beason is in the huddle inspiring his teammates to give it all they have each and every play, and the linebacker is surely on his way to creating a new legacy as one of the NFL’s Top linebackers for the Giants.
