The Baffling Issue of How the New York Jets Play Up or Down to Their Competition

Maybe it’s subconscious or maybe it’s lack of effort, but the New York Jets just love to toy with every fans’ emotions every single Sunday. After taking some time to swallow and digest the latest loss against the Buffalo Bills, it’s shocking how this group of men simply play up and down every week.

As in a previous article that I wrote, this team is a true roller coaster alternating weeks of wins and losses, but more than that they play up to their more difficult opponents and down to the inferior. Now, I’m not in the locker room and I don’t know what head coach Rex Ryan preaches to gang green, but as I said maybe it’s subconscious. This isn’t really an issue that plagued the team in years past, and this team did have very little expectations. That doesn’t give them the right to play sloppy against a team like the Bills and bring their “A-game” vs. a team like the New Orleans Saints, however.

If this team has any hopes of making the playoff push down the stretch there needs to be a string of victories. I can go on and on about all the issues that have plagued this team since Week 1, but let’s be real. There needs to be consistent play in all phases, not just the defense being a shut down group. So as Week 12 comes up it’s going to be interesting to see what happens here with this up an down team.
