Philadelphia Eagles: Two Key Players To Watch With Tough Games Coming

The Philadelphia Eagles took full advantage of the softest part of their season schedule, and are in position to win the division. In the last few weeks, they’ve grown on both sides of the ball with some much needed consistency. This foundation will be tested, as some challenges are on the way. If they are to maintain the division lead and a playoff birth, two players will be keys to that success.

LeSean McCoy:

McCoy is the rushing leader at the moment and one of the best backs in the league. He is a human highlight reel and cuts through defenses like Barry Sanders. He has played a few off games, and he will now need to finish the season strong. The Eagles will be facing some tough defenses in the coming weeks, so they cannot afford any more slips. McCoy does not need to be dominant, but his skills should be enough to make any team respect the run game. We’ve seen that he is a dangerous receiver, and Nick Foles can continue to take full advantage of those skills. Look for his high performance to continue and help close out games as the weather gets colder and playoffs are on the horizon.

Fletcher Cox:

If the last game was any hint of what is coming, opposing offenses are in trouble. Cox appears to have fully embraced his new position and defense. He played out of his mind last week and created havoc all game. The defensive line is the key that makes Billy Davis‘ unit work, and if they can keep getting pressure without extra rushers, they will open the door to make the linebackers and secondary play better. With Trent Cole nearing the end of his time with the team, there is space for the next great lineman. Cox could be it.
