New York Giants: Not Lacking Confidence Heading Into Matchup With Dallas Cowboys
If there was ever a question whether or not the New York Giants believed in themselves, it was answered this week, several times.
The Giants know the magnitude of their matchup with the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, and they are certainly not shying away from the building pressure. In fact, almost immediately after their home win over the Green Bay Packers last week, Jason Pierre-Paul ignited the fire.
ESPN New York reported the following quotes from the Giants:
“We’re going to put it on them, man,” Pierre-Paul said. “I’m pretty sure the offense is going to get it going. The defense is going to get going even more. And the special teams will contribute to it. It’s going to be a fight. It’s going to be a dogfight. There’s going to be a lot of blood spilled out there.”
In case Pierre-Paul’s comments were not direct enough, Terrell Thomas decided to chime in as well.
“No doubt we’re going to win this game,” Thomas said Friday on Sirius XM NFL radio. “You can tell them, put it on a bulletin-board – it doesn’t matter, because we have to win this game. Our season is on the line right now.”
Thomas has had an extremely successful season after returning from back-to-back ACL tears. He even earned NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors back in Week 8 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Thomas recorded 11 total tackles, a sack and a forced fumble in the victory.
The Cowboys will be New York’s toughest opponent since kicking off their current winning streak. A win for the Giants will mean a tie with Dallas for second place in the division. Each team would have a record of 5-6, one game back of first-place Philadelphia.
