Denver Broncos Have Inside Track To AFC West After Kansas City Chiefs' Loss

Tonight and next Sunday just got a lot more interesting for the Denver Broncos in a positive way.

With the Kansas City Chiefs losing in a shootout to the San Diego Chargers, the Broncos are now in a prime position to gain a little ground on the Chiefs before the showdown next weekend in Arrowhead. This makes tonight’s game against the New England Patriots very important in more than one way.

Not only can they gain ground on the Patriots for home-field advantage, but they can take a one-game lead on the Chiefs for the AFC West (technically two, since the Broncos own the tiebreaker right now).

This game tonight should also test the Broncos to see if they can win in a hostile environment like Foxborough if for some reason the Broncos cannot secure home field. I believe the Broncos will stay focused on tonight’s game against the Patriots and not worry about what happened earlier on in the Chargers-Chiefs tilt.

But, rest assured that Broncos’ fans are quite happy with how the game today went. They are certainly thanking the Chargers for helping them out in the race for the division. The key here when it comes to divisions and playoff positioning is to take care of business, and the rest will follow suit. Can the Broncos take care of business and give the Chiefs’ loss today some meaning?

The Broncos are in the middle of their toughest stretch of the season. With how everything has gone in these past couple days, it looks like a third straight AFC West title is in the Broncos’ sight.
