The Dallas Cowboys Need To Commit To The Run

The Dallas Cowboys have one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL with multiple play makers at every position, but with the Cowboys’ defense being decimated with injuries, the Cowboys will really need to slow things down and run they ball.

DeMarco Murray has 548 rushing yards on the season and has shown, at times, that he can be an every down running back. Murray will need to touch the rock a lot more than he usually does in order to take some of the pressure off of quarterback Tony Romo. Time of possession will be key for the Cowboys’ offense if the Cowboys’ defense continues to play poorly. A strong rushing attack can help the Cowboys control how many possessions the opponents can get during a game, and if the Cowboys’ defense continues to prove their inability to slow down opposing offenses, that might be the only way the Cowboys can win going forward. Murray’s main issue in the past couple of weeks has been his health, but with the NFC East getting tighter each week, the Cowboys need everybody to produce at a high level

When healthy, Murray can be one of the more dynamic running backs in the NFL, and he is the Cowboys’ best option at running back at the current time.  With him at 100 percent, the Cowboys should give their remaining opponents a heavy dose of Murray for the rest of the season. At this point in the season, the Cowboys’ defense will continue to be a liability, especially with the recent loss of linebacker Sean Lee. Murray will have to keep the Cowboys from becoming one dimensional, and the Cowboys will have to show a stronger commitment to the running game going forward.
