Chip Kelly officially named Nick Foles the starting quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles going forward. This was an absolute no brainer. Foles was playing out of his mind and is leading the league in quarterback rating while throwing 16 touchdowns to zero interceptions.
He is putting up mind-blowing numbers right now, and he is running Kelly’s offense to near perfection. Like I said this was not a tough call for coach Kelly. The real question is what can Foles do with the position now?
We are getting into the crucial month of December where playoff berths are won and lost. We will really see what Foles is made of. If you recall last season he was playing with a decimated offensive line and without his top two play makers in LeSean McCoy and DeSean Jackson.
With his full complement of weapons he has lit it up. Foles is playing lights out football right now, but can he keep it up? The Eagles play some tough defenses going forward, and the game slows down as playoff football gets closer and closer. This is where the gamers come to the forefront.
We will see if Foles has the goods to come up big in big, pressure packed games. For right now his future looks bright. Foles is a big, strong armed quarterback with an extremely high football IQ, and those are all important traits in a Kelly QB.
His will is certain to be tested as the calendar flips to December, but pressure hasn’t fazed this kid so far. As it gets amped up we will see how the second-year signal caller responds to playing in the biggest games of his life.
