Philadelphia Eagles' Defensive Unit Coming Together

The Philadelphia Eagles‘ once maligned defense is a highly improved unit. Over the past seven weeks they are the only defense in the entire league to give up 21 points or less for seven consecutive games.

That’s an impressive feat for a defense in complete and total transition. Billy Davis has this group playing with high effort and intensity. Davis is simply doing a masterful job. Not only is this a team going from a 4-3 to a 3-4, but it’s not exactly like Davis is inheriting a defense loaded with Pro Bowlers.

Davis has these players playing at a maximum level of effort and want to. The tackling has been highly improved, and there are hardly any assignment or coverage breakdowns. These are both things the Eagles defense did excessively the last few seasons.

Davis will only get better as the talent improves over the years. For now, if this unit can just play solid football the Eagles are certainly a team to be reckoned with.

The offense is  playing at an extremely high level right now under Eagles head coach and play caller Chip Kelly. With Nick Foles at the helm they are thriving.

The defense has done its job as well or the last two months, but the question is can they keep up this pace in the crucial month of December? We will see. It won’t be for a lack of trying, though, I can tell you that. Davis demands his players leave everything out there on the field.

For this defense, that has made all the difference in the world.
