Since his subpar performance in Week 7 against the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles has been as good as any quarterback in the NFL. He has taken advantage of every opportunity, gotten all pieces of the offense involved and protected the football. Foles has quickly risen to stardom in a city that has craved something positive in the football world for some time now.
The next five games will not only help to determine if Foles will be given the reins of the franchise for the foreseeable future, but will define where the Eagles are going before season’s end. The Foles which Philadelphia has seen in their winning streak would be able to lead them to a division title and a playoff opportunity which has been lacking for years.
In a time when the Eagles were expected to take baby steps while recovering from the underachieving end of the Andy Reid era, they really have a chance for something big.
Foles’ numbers over the past three games have been mind-boggling. He has a quarterback rating higher than Hall of Fame names like Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, and he’s put the Eagles back in contention for a division title. Foles may not be the prototypical quarterback for the Chip Kelly system, but he’s showing that he can keep the tempo high, complete passes and move the offense. He’s made it nearly impossible to ignore him because he’s been that good.
Only time will tell, but Foles is quickly solidifying himself as the man in Philadelphia. If he can finish the season with the same success, the franchise will make a move in the right direction much sooner than anyone expected.
