Today is all about being thankful–it is Thanksgiving and all. Unfortunately, Green Bay Packers fans are probably thinking otherwise as their team was blown out by the Detroit Lions. As a result, the Packers could be doomed for the playoffs.

40-10. That was the score of today’s game and in no way was it in the Packers’ favor.

Green Bay is not out of first place in the NFC North by much, but it has lost four out of its last five games. Aaron Rodgers means the world to this team and that has been evident ever since he went down with an injury. Without Rodgers in the lineup, the Packers are not even close to being a playoff team.

The Lions still have some work to do, but they are currently the top dog in the division. I am sure they got a huge confidence booster by winning this game on Thanksgiving day as well. Beating a divisional rival is always a big thing, especially when the division race is so close.

There are only four weeks left in the regular season. That is good news for Detroit and bad news for Green Bay. The Packers cannot even buy a win right now.

Whether the case, Rodgers should eventually return. Until he does, though, the Packers are doomed for the playoffs. Even with him back, they are going to have to win and hope that Detroit and Chicago lose.

The division really is wide open, but Detroit got a statement win today and it should be feeling very good about its chances of making the playoffs.
