Joe Flacco doesn’t plan on having the Baltimore Ravens end their season prematurely,
The Ravens were in a virtual must-win situation against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night. While the must-win term gets overused, the Ravens couldn’t afford to fall to 5-7 if they somehow want to latch onto an NFL Wild Card spot. A 6-6 record thanks to the 22-20 win over the Steelers gives them new hope, but they probably can’t afford another loss. If they’re lucky, 9-7 might do it.
Flacco, who is obviously getting tired of hearing the criticism even after leading the Ravens to the Super Bowl title last season, is still getting the job done. He was 24-of-35 passing for 251 yards and a one touchdown with no interceptions. He did enough to put the Ravens in the position to squeak one out against a Steelers team that is playing very good football right now despite being 5-7.
Both teams didn’t get much out of their ground attacks, so a decent passing game was essential on Thanksgiving night.
Flacco remains effective in using different receivers. He had a least one completion to eight Ravens receivers on Thursday night. His counterpart, Ben Roethlisberger, only used five.
It was not an easy win, nor are the Ravens assured of anything right now. However, Flacco and his teammates are definitely a team that can’t be counted out. That’s why four more clutch performances by the QB can get this team to the playoffs, and who knows what after that. The guy should never be counted out. He’s too good for that.
