For some reason, Eric Decker always plays his best games when the importance of the game is at an all-time high. This game proved no different as he stepped up in big-time situations.
Decker chose a big game to break out as he caught four touchdown passes while getting 174 yards receiving on eight catches. This was a career day for the Denver Broncos wideout, and it came against a huge opponent in the Kansas City Chiefs. His four touchdown receptions also put him in the Broncos’ history books. Most teams plan for wideouts Demaryius Thomas and Wes Welker, but there was no game plan for Decker as he completely took over.
With Peyton Manning having all those weapons, it is difficult to to stop every single one and this game showed that. There is a good chance we won’t see a game like this from Decker again, but he definitely put the rest of the league on watch. This has been a game long time coming from Decker.
Don’t look for Decker to take his foot off the gas pedal. I think that this is only the beginning for the wideout. I am sure Manning will look his way more as they push towards the AFC Playoffs. Most teams will think that the game is a fluke, but I see one thing that is certain: Decker will show to the entire league that he is a player you do not want to mess with.
He has proven that he has the potential to become a huge force and when he is on his game, the Broncos are going to be a dynamic offense.
