Kansas City Chiefs Are a Very Good Team, But Not Elite
The Kansas City Chiefs started out the season 9-0, and have lost three straight since then. The fact that the Chiefs have already been swept the by the Denver Broncos, and lost to the San Diego Chargers in Week 12 has a lot of people doubting how far the Chiefs can go in the playoffs.
The fact of the matter is, no one can deny the fact that the Chiefs are a good team. But they are not elite. They have a lot of work to do. The Chiefs have a good defense, but they tend to allow a lot of yards from time to time on the ground.
Now the Chiefs sit at 9-3 as they look to be going on a downward spiral at the wrong time. However, it seems to be a common theme for a lot of teams over the years that start off hot, and then fade as the season goes on.
The Chiefs have a bright future, but this year isn’t their year. They just seem to be missing a core unit on they can rely on. When Chiefs score 66 points in two weeks, people expect a win.
So clearly the losses have not been on Chiefs starting quarterback Alex Smith, but on their defense. I understand outside linebackers in Tamba Hali, and Justin Houston are out for the Chiefs.
But if the Chiefs consider themselves serious contenders for the Super Bowl, they have to win games against good teams even when some of their best players aren’t fully healthy.
