The Baltimore Ravens are on a hot streak right now. Thanks to a mini two game winning streak, the Ravens sit firmly in the sixth seed as the last wild card spot in the AFC playoff picture.
The major reason for the turn around? Joe Flacco. He has certainly been inconsistent, however, the clutch quarterback always seems to save his best football for December, January and February. That trend looks to be continuing this season.
In my opinion, the AFC doesn’t have one dominant team. People will point to the Denver Broncos, led by Peyton Manning, but they have looked shaky as of late, including blowing a 24 point lead like it was nothing.
The Broncos’ defense, specifically their pass defense has been a sieve this season. That doesn’t translate well to playoff football, especially when the NFL has become a passing league.
The Ravens have been far too hot and cold this season. However, if they get in a long playoff run, the Super Bowl is not out of the question. John Harbaugh always has his troops ready to play when it counts, and the Ravens seem to have an aura about them in January.
If Flacco can get hot again, it is not unfathomable to think they could see themselves run the table. Is it likely, having to go on the road every week? Probably not. However, we have seen teams barely sneak into the playoffs in the past, only to run the table all the way to the big game.
The Ravens have as good a shot as anyone in a wide open AFC.
