5 Up-And-Coming Players NFL Players Who Could Break Out In Week 14

intro
Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

Every year in the NFL there are a few young players who bud into superstars of the highest order. Whether on offense or defense they put everything together and become elite talents at their respective positions. Boy have we seen that this season.

Whether it be rookies, second, or even third year players, some offensive and defensive stars have come to the surface. In recent weeks talent has really started to blossom. Josh Gordon and Alshon Jeffery in particular have suddenly become monsters at their positions.

These dudes are still young players and relatively green to the league. Their physical skills, however, are so dominant that they have found success at a tough position early on in their careers. In the Bears' case, Jeffery's monster performances have helped the team stay in the playoff race.

In Gordon's case, while the Browns are out of the running it looks like they have found an offensive player they can build around. To think this was a guy that was on the trading block earlier this season. Absolute blasphemy.

One of the reasons the league puts out such an exciting product is the privilege we as fans have to watch new talent form seemingly every year. That has been no different this season. Quarterbacks have also come to the forefront. Who would have thought that Nick Foles would look like the second coming of Peyton Manning?

This is why the NFL is truly a yearly league. You never know what team or player will break out on a yearly or even weekly basis. Let's take a look at 5 up-and-coming NFL players who could break out in Week 14.

5. Josh Gordon

Josh Gordon has become a monster at the receiver position. He became the first player in NFL history to have back-to-back 200-yard receiving performances which is incredible. Gordon will have a tough match up with Aqib Talib on Sunday, but I believe he will win his fair share of one-on-one match ups and torch the New England Patriots' secondary.

4. Riley Cooper

Riley Cooper has become breakout quarterback Nick Foles' favorite target for the Eagles. Cooper has been a breakout player in his own right as a big downfield target with speed to burn. He sees a favorable match up on Sunday. The Detroit Lions' secondary is atrocious so Cooper should have a field day.

3. Alshon Jeffery

What can you say about Alshon Jeffery? He has been a superstar receiver for the Chicago Bears. Jeffery set franchise records with his astounding 15 catches for 250 yards and two touchdowns as he victimized the Vikings' secondary. He and Brandon Marshall form the deadliest receiving duo in the league. Jeffery must be licking his chops for Week 14 as he sees maybe the league's worst secondary in the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night. Expect Jeffery to have his second straight monster game.

2. Giovani Bernard

Giovani Bernard is coming into his own as a running back in his rookie season for the Cincinnati Bengals. Bernard has a rare combination of power and speed and is blessed with top notch athleticism. He sees a below average Indianapolis Colts run defense. I expect a big day for the bruising Bernard on Sunday.

1. Michael Floyd

Michael Floyd has really come on in Bruce Arians' offense for the Arizona Cardinals. His 54 catches are second on the team behind the great Larry Fitzgerald, and his 860 receiving yards actually lead the team. He faces a suspect St. Louis Rams' secondary on Sunday and will draw the team's second corner with the focus being on Fitzgerald. I expect a big afternoon for Floyd on Sunday.
