New York Giants' Recent Hot Stretch Is Fool's Gold

The New York Giants have won five of their last six games. That’s great, throw a parade. We have to take into consideration who they have beaten. The Giants went up against a beaten up Terrelle Pryor and the Oakland Raiders, a backup quarterback in Scott Tolzien, a walking disaster of a franchise in the Washington Redskins and the Minnesota Vikings backup and first-round bust Josh Freeman.

Not exactly a murderers row type of schedule. The Giants are not a very good football team. Despite a few recent wins, one thanks to the referees, the defense is dreadful, Eli Manning has been making mistakes at an alarming rate and the running game was nonexistent until Andre Brown finally got healthy.

The Giants are not even close to being a good team in the NFC, let alone a great one. Right now, all the Giants are doing is screwing up their draft pick. Remember, this is a team that was expected to win the NFC East this season.

Even in a down year for the East, the Giants aren’t in realistic contention for the crown. Injuries have piled up no doubt. However, consistent performers have been totally missing. Jason Pierre-Paul has been a ghost this season and has just two sacks on the year, a pathetic total for a pass rusher of his caliber.

Hakeem Nicks, as per usual, has been in and out of the lineup. The Giants have also gotten nothing out of Brandon Myers and the tight end position. The offensive line also hasn’t done Manning any favors.

This Giants team is far too flawed to make a run during the last quarter of the season, especially with a tough schedule coming up. The Giants will be golfing in January.
