Denver Broncos Are Playing Dangerous Football
The Denver Broncos are now 11-2 on the season, but while the offense is explosive, their defense is asking for trouble. You can win a lot of games this way in the regular season, but say goodnight to any Super Bowl hopes at this rate if you are the Broncos.
The Broncos’ defense has been a joke all season long. The fewest points the Broncos defense has allowed all season is 17 points. Again, 17 points. They also allow over 360 yards a game this season. Are you kidding me?
I have seen teams like the Broncos in recent years where the offense is explosive, and their defense is terrible only to be exposed in the playoffs. The defense has to be fixed. Defense wins championships. I don’t care how bad the defense is during the regular season. Those types of situations weed themselves out come playoff time.
To me, I don’t think the Broncos’ defense is this bad. But I do believe that they lack a sense of urgency, and believe that Peyton Manning will bail out the defense every time he steps on the field. That is a dangerous way to operate, especially considering the fact that Manning hasn’t been stellar historically in the playoffs.
If the Broncos keep playing at the pace they are playing right now, they shouldn’t be surprised if they lose at home in the divisional round of the playoffs for the second year in a row.
