Nick Foles proved undoubtedly that he can get it done in any type of weather. The second-year quarterback was strikingly effective even in the brutal conditions of Lincoln Financial Field.
The yardage totals may not have been too gaudy as he finished with 179 yards, a touchdown, and finally threw his first pick, but Foles made plays when he needed to. His touchdown pass to DeSean Jackson was a thing of beauty, and he had a few picture perfect throws to Riley Cooper.
In short, he did enough to win a game in conditions where it looked near impossible to throw the football. Now it is certain that Foles is the franchise quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles. His amazing run of play this year has cemented his status as the face of the franchise.
The Eagles right now are clicking on all cylinders. The defense is playing out of their minds, they have the best running back in the league in LeSean McCoy, and their quarterback is as hot as anyone in the league.
The coach Chip Kelly is also a wild card. He has adapted brilliantly this season and has these players running through a brick wall for him. These Eagles right now are the hottest team in football for a reason.
Good coaching, a dominant running game, and a hot defense and quarterback go a long, long way in December and January. If the Eagles keep playing like this don’t be surprised if they are the last team standing in the NFC.
