This scenario obviously relegates Sanchez to strictly a backup. He could benefit, however, by signing a one-year deal with the New Orleans Saints. Truly learning intangibles from superstar QB Drew Brees could be useful. Then Sanchez could once again hit free agency in 2015 as a more mature and knowledgeable individual.

Chad Henne has actually led the Jacksonville Jaguars to a nice little stretch as of late. Most likely, however, he is not the future. That distinction probably falls to someone like Teddy Bridgewater or Johnny Manziel. In the meantime, though, drafting an elite prospect and having an open competition next year is a good idea. Blaine Gabbert should be gone, so bringing in Sanchez might work. He has decent arm strength to get the ball to Justin Blackmon and Cecil Shorts III. Using him as a placeholder may not be the worst option.

Hypothetically, if Sam Bradford were to leave this offseason the St. Louis Rams would be in the market for a new quarterback. Most likely their long-term solution comes through this much hyped group of signal callers in the draft, and again next year may serve as a time for them to sit at least a few games. Sanchez enjoyed some success with offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, and he has helped fellow former Jet Kellen Clemens after Bradford went down. There has never been anyone like Tavon Austin at Sanchez’s disposal so a turnaround could occur.

2. Cleveland Browns

Mazniel’s arrival has been rumored recently for the Cleveland Browns, but nothing is final until his name is called. Brandon Weeden is probably gone, and Jason Campbell's status remains in doubt as well. Brian Hoyer looked solid earlier this season, but he endured a major injury. A position battle could happen here as well. Josh Gordon has become a star wideout that Sanchez could lean on, and the same goes for Greg Little and very talented tight end Jordan Cameron. Tackle Joe Thomas would offer him great pocket protection. Play-action works with Sanchez because he has decent scrambling ability, and this underrated defense could offer a winning formula similar to what he had in New York.

Matt McGloin has performed admirably since taking over for Terrell Pryor. It remains to be seen whether he can be a long-term solution with the Oakland Raiders. I don’t think Pryor fits the bill, but that also has yet to be determined. Again competition could take place with these two and a draft pick. Honestly they should consider calling Sanchez if and when he hits the market. Going back to his home state of California would be an emotional lift. Quick receivers Jacoby Ford and Denarius Moore offer whomever the quarterback is dynamic targets. Darren McFadden or Rashad Jennings would help him at running back as well.
