Denver Broncos: John Fox Still Confident in Team After Loss
When your head coach takes a loss as a learning experience instead of doing the opposite, that can boost the morale and confidence in a team.
Denver Broncos head coach John Fox turned the loss against the San Diego Chargers as a refocus lesson. Fox would also go on to say that the loss was not a wake up call, but would help the team look and see what went wrong and to figure out methods on how to fix them. The fact that Fox still felt confident in his team despite the mistakes they suffered that led to the setback is certainly a good sign. And Fox is also a brilliantly-minded coach. He would go on to say that the loss at this point of the season might not be a terrible thing. If you look back at last year when the Baltimore Ravens won the Super Bowl, they were beaten around this time last year to this Broncos squad and had little chance of making the playoffs. But they refocused and went on to win it all.
Fox has every right to be confident in the Broncos despite a late-season loss. I believe this loss will help the Broncos. Going back to last year, they did not have a late-season loss due to the 11-game winning streak they had going into the playoffs. So, thinking about that they did not see any flaws that they had that year. When a flaw was recognized, it was too late because it cost the Broncos a shot in the AFC Championship Game.
Strange that a loss late in the season could help motivate the team. But Fox knows what he is talking about. Best not to question the man. And perhaps losing to a team who is on the fence of either making the playoffs or not, to a team that they should have been able to beat, could give the Broncos all the motivation they need to begin a run toward the top.
