New Orleans Saints Will Take NFC South, Second Playoff Seed In NFC
Despite another embarrassing loss on the road following a downright dismal performance, I believe the New Orleans Saints will still be the eventual winner of the NFC South and will go on to claim the No. 2 seed in the NFC for the postseason.
Go ahead, read that again.
I know come Monday morning and into the rest of the week there will be plenty of negative talk about how poorly Drew Brees, Sean Payton and the rest of the Saints team have performed on the road this season. They will probably even take a hit in the power rankings. Heck, at 3-4 on the road this season much of that criticism and dip in rankings will be rightly deserved. The Saints played an absolutely terrible game in Week 13 on the road against the Seattle Seahawks and they certainly looked awful for the most part against their most recent opponent, the St. Louis Rams.
However, New Orleans is still a very good football team with talented personnel and a gifted head coach. They usually respond well to losses, and next week’s game against the Carolina Panthers should be no different, despite it being another road game. The last time these two teams played each other in Week 14, Rob Ryan‘s defensive limited Cam Newton to just 160-yards passing, 48-yards rushing and also sacked him five times.
Payton, Brees and the rest of the team will take this most recent loss and use it to motivate themselves to take the division and lock up their playoff seeding. It might be a little more difficult than doing it at home, but they are capable of doing it. They have the talent, they have the brains and most importantly, I believe they have the will to do it.
Be sure to not miss this one, it could very well be another game of the season.
