New York Jets vs. Cleveland Browns Still Worth Watching

When teams cannot reach the postseason, there is an assumption that they have given up. Well, Week 16 features a game between two teams that won’t seem to wait for next year.

Rex Ryan’s New York Jets came up short on Sunday, and their playoff chances have all but evaporated due to tie-breakers. Reported love for their coach will ensure that gang Green continues to fight. Rookie QB Geno Smith has made some progress as he showed some of the pocket presence from earlier this season. When he saw pressure the ball was promptly thrown away, or Smith would take off. An interception late came from a desperation heave. Lack of explosion from this offense regularly made it difficult to sustain drives. Of course, nothing has been settled going forward. The Cleveland Browns face questions at that position as well.

Jason Campbell has performed admirably, but likely is not a long-term solution. What makes them fun to watch are skilled receivers like budding star Josh Gordon, and tight end Jordon Cameron. They, like the Jets, have a solid defense. Corner Joe Haden is someone Smith should avoid. At 4-10, it may look like a rough season, but there has been no quit.

The Jets will likely soon be eliminated, but they still have pride. Their front seven, with players like Muhammad Wilkerson, refuse to quit. A home win would make the Jets’ final record 6-2, which is respectable. No one should give up because their job can be replaced. These two teams still have players that make this game interesting.
