Without a doubt, the 2013 NFL season has been lousy to say the least for New York Giants fans, as the team came out whiffing the first six weeks of the season to start winless. The Giants’ fan base has not felt this much pain to start of a season since 1976, where the team went 3-11 and finished last in the NFC East.
Fans are wondering what had happened to their team, and for good reason. This team completed a rare feat just two seasons ago, as the Giants had just won their second Super Bowl in five years, something that just doesn’t happen in the modern day NFL.
And now in 2013, the team is bumming with a 5-9 record and historically bad in most facets of the game. Eli Manning has thrown an outrageous amount of interceptions (25) with two games yet to be played, the run game has been completely gone the whole year and the defense hasn’t been nearly as stout as in years prior. Giants fans are surely missing their former offensive energizer bunny in Ahmad Bradshaw, who they let go after last season, However, the addition of Jon Beason did boost some team pride, as the former Pro-Bowler has been the leader of the Giants’ defense since his arrival in early October. Other than that, fans have been hard pressed to find something to route for.
The four-game winning streak was certainly fun to witness after the atrocious 0-6 start, but every fan knew not to get their hopes up, as the Giants were still not playing efficient football during those wins against subpar teams.
I know, Giants fans, it’s hard. I know you are all accustom to winning, or at least ending the season with at least a .500 record. The Giants have struggled to get into the playoffs over the years, yet those Super Bowl victories felt so good. But it’s not over. Do not give up on these Giants. As true fans, it is instrumental to stick with this team through thick and thin, regardless of the record or play on the field.
Big Blue Nation is one of the strongest fan bases in the country, and now it’s time to prove it.
