5 Options for Richie Incognito’s New Year’s Resolutions in 2014

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Dolphins’ Richie Incognito has been suspended for the rest of the season due to his bullying scandal with teammate Jonathan Martin. As most of you know, he was caught red-handed saying some pretty nasty things in a message to Martin. With the looming allegations and the tarnished name of Incognito, his suspension should give him some time to think about his future and how to handle his issue going forward. For many of us, this time of year is a time of forgiveness, family and friendship. For Incognito, it’s a time when all of that seems distant and futile. Even though we’re not ready to forgive him yet, maybe some of these resolutions will help him get on the right track.

When choosing a New Year’s resolution, it’s important to stick with what is beneficial to you, and not just everyone else. That being said, don’t shy away from the cliche just because they are cliche. They’re often cliche for a reason because many people have similar issues that need to change coming into the New Year. For Incognito, it’s a combination of classics with a twist. With some of these resolutions met, maybe Incognito will find himself back with the Dolphins, or perhaps another team who doesn’t care as much about the bullying.

So here we go -- five solid resolution options for 2014. If you can think of more 2014 New Year’s resolutions for Incognito, leave a comment below or drop me a line on Twitter or Facebook.

5. Get a Gym Membership

A common resolution, but it's different for Richie. I’m guessing he needs a new gym membership because he was kicked out of his last one for comments made in the locker room.

4. Work on Swearing Less

As we’ve all learned, Richie has quite a dirty mouth. One of the more common resolutions, swearing less in 2014 might help to keep Mr. Incognito out of trouble.

3. Make New Friends

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

He says he’s rooting for the Dolphins despite being suspended for the rest of the season. However, I have a feeling he’s not coming back to a welcome parade. It might be time for Richie to look for some new friends in 2014.

2. Lose Weight

I know he’s a lineman, but come on. He looks like a Biggest Loser contestant.

1. Anger Management

Robert Mayer-USA TODAY Sports

Richie needs to buy some books or take some classes on how to manage anger. He’s admitted to having issues controlling his temper, and it was even in his scouting report, predicting that he would drop a few rounds because of the issue. So, maybe 2014 is the year.
