5 NFL Teams That Will Definitely Win in Week 17

Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports

We are getting near the finish line of the NFL's regular season. This week is important for a number of teams in terms of seeding, home field advantage and playoff positioning as teams fight for the final few spots in both the AFC and NFC.

Week 17 is always a crazy one as it is a precursor to the playoffs for a number of teams. That is no different this season. For two games, it is a winner-takes-all proposition. The Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears, and Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles will battle it out head to head for the right to play in January.

It doesn't get any bigger than that. For those four squads, the playoffs come a week early. Around the rest of the league, the upper echelon teams are still fighting for seeding and who they are going to play in the coming weeks.

Make no mistake about it, unlike most years almost no team will be resting its starters. They are all playing for something and that includes the Denver Broncos who want that No. 1 seed and will have to win in order to get it.

This is the best time of year for football fans. Playoff football is right around the corner, where the action slows down and games take on a much bigger feel. The big-game vibe will be in play for a number of teams even this week.

As far as I'm concerned, this is, in essence, the first week of the playoffs. Let's take a look at five teams that will definitely win on Sunday.

Indianapolis Colts

The Indianapolis Colts will not lose to the Jacksonville Jaguars at home. With a win and losses by the Bengals and Pats, the Colts could actually jump all the way up to the No. 2 seed. So with a lot to play for and at home against a bad team, this one won't be close.

Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos have a more than favorable matchup against the Oakland Raiders. They still need to win to secure the No. 1 seed so Peyton Manning should see plenty of game action. This one will be a rout from jump street.

Philadelphia Eagles

Howard Smith-USA TODAY Sports

The division and a playoff berth are on the line for the Philadelphia Eagles. They see a backup quarterback in Kyle Orton who hasn't seen significant game action all season long. If the Eagles are on their game, it will be a long evening for the Cowboys.

Carolina Panthers

Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

The Carolina Panthers travel to Atlanta to face the Falcons. If they win, they take the NFC South. I don't see the Panthers blowing this one against a mediocre Falcons team even on the road.

Seattle Seahawks

Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

The Seattle Seahawks blew it big time at home against the Cardinals. They had a chance to clinch the No. 1 seed and home field throughout the playoffs. They failed. I don't see them doing that at home two straight weeks. The Seahawks will play at home with energy and purpose against a hot Rams squad. A win is in the cards for the Hawks.
