Victor Cruz Points Finger At Eli Manning, But Giants' WR Is To Blame

The New York Giants were a total disappointment in 2013.

A year after missing out on the postseason completely, the Giants went in to the 2013 campaign with rather large expectations and fell flat on their face. If you can remember: the Giants’ entire offseason was marred by Victor Cruz‘s on-going and dramatic contract negotiations with the team. Cruz wound up getting his payday, but it came at a cost.

From game one on, Eli Manning never did click with his Giants’ wide receivers. This sounds extremely strange considering Manning and these wide receivers have won two Super Bowl titles, but according to Cruz there was a “disconnect” all season long. Here is some of what Cruz had to say about New York’s supposed schism:

“The one thing we lacked was kind of that continuity from a receiver standpoint with our quarterback.”

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black?! Not only were Cruz’s offseason antics very distracting, No. 80 actually has the nerve to pin the Giants’ woeful season on something that he caused.

One thing is for certain: if head coach Tom Coughlin is going to return to the club in 2014 then he’d better make sure Cruz and Manning are taking snaps all summer long. At the end of the day: Cruz got paid and that’s all he really cares about. Besides, with Hakeem Nicks likely leaving in 2014, the wide receiving corps for New York is liable to undergo quite the face lift come 2014.
