Drew Brees Has Nearly Perfect Game as the New Orleans Saints Clinch a Wild Card Spot

Drew Brees Dunking

The New Orleans Saints just had to win their last game and they would be in the playoffs, and the team did that and in a big way. The Saints defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 42-17 and secured the sixth seed in the NFC playoffs. The Saints might have had their best game of the season, as they were clicking on all cylinders and simply dominated the Bucs.

It was no surprise that Saints quarterback Drew Brees led the way for the team and showed why he is one of the best QBs in the NFL. Brees finished the day with 381 passing yards and four touchdowns as he completed 24 of his 31 passes. Furthermore, Brees even ran it in for a touchdown and finished with five total touchdowns on the day.

Brees was so good that he just missed having a perfect quarterback rating and finished with a 157.4 rating. The Saints finished the season 11-5 including a perfect 8-0 at home. Unfortunately, the Saints will have to play their first playoff game on the road against the winner between the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles.

The road has not been too kind to the Saints this season as they finished 3-5 on the road. The Saints need to prove that they can win on the road and prove they are not just a dome team. The Saints will have that opportunity next week either in Philadelphia or Dallas.

The Saints still have a chance to make a deep playoff run and if Brees can play like he played today, the Saints could be a dangerous team. If the regular season was any indication, then I would say the Saints are gaining some momentum heading into the playoffs. Now they just have to wait and see who they will play.
