Denver Broncos: Adam Gase Declining Interviews Is A Smart Move

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

It is no surprise to many that the Denver Broncos would be contacted about interviewing the brilliant mind behind the Broncos’ offense. The mind behind the offense is putting them all on hold.

Offensive Coordinator Adam Gase has been targeted to be interviewed for the head coaching job for the Cleveland Browns and the Minnesota Vikings, where both teams fired their head coaches in the past 24 hours. Despite the request, Gase has denied the requests, telling that he wants to wait until the Broncos’ season has ended before sitting down to interview. This is the second year in a row that the Broncos have had teams reach out to them about interviewing their offensive coordinator. Mike McCoy was the offensive mind in Denver last year before the interview requests, ultimately landing with the San Diego Chargers during the offseason.

Gase has made a smart move by not interviewing for a head-coaching job at this moment. His focus should be on the team as they prepare for a playoff run that starts January 12 in the divisional round. Even though the Broncos are not playing in this weekend’s wild card round, Gase wants to use the extra week to prepare the offense and get them ready for which team that will be visiting Denver in the playoffs. This could hurt Gase’s chance at landing a head coaching position, but it is better that he focuses now on the playoffs and prepare his offense instead of flirting with the idea of interviewing when he could spend the time going over the game plan with Peyton Manning.

It is every coordinator’s dream to be coaching a team, but Gase wants to focus on the here and now and that is the playoffs. If there is a team really wanting to interview him, they can wait.

Eli Manning Has Interesting Reaction To Broncos' Super Bowl Win

Eli Manning was captured on video making an interesting face when the Denver Broncos cemented their Super Bowl 50 win. The Internet firmly believes Eli is upset that Peyton now has two rings just like he does, but this is simply an overreaction. Eli was clearly nervous throughout the game, and his odd facial expressions are more indicative of a sign of relief than anything else.
