Now that they have a target on their backs, how will the Carolina Panthers respond?
No one gave them a chance to make any noise this season, and a 1-3 start seemed to justify everyone’s beliefs. But then something clicked and the Panther destroyed everything in their path. However, the doubts still lingered within the NFL and the media. Once the New Orleans Saints defeated them, the doubters showed their faces and told us that the Panthers were still pretenders.
They never got off course and let the outside world influence their season. They buckled down and got right back to the only thing they knew how to do well this season and that was win. This collection of players became a team during the wining streak, but they became a unit after the Saints loss.
The talk is still about the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers but if those teams are not careful, the tight unit of the Panthers will sneak up and represent the NFC in the Super Bowl in February.
Cam Newton is playing his best football as a pro, and the running game is steadily improving as the season goes along. As for the defense, they are the best in the league. There is not a quarterback that will be thrilled to know that they will have to face that defense at all.
They were once calling for the head of coach Ron Rivera, and now his name is being thrown around for Coach of the Year and rightfully so. The team brought into his philosophy and belief that they are winners — they just had to go out and prove it to themselves.
