Mychal Kendricks had perhaps the best game of his young career on Sunday night. He was a heat seeking missile out there as he finished with 12 tackles, a pass defense, an interception, and a recovered fumble.
To say he had an active game would be an understatement. Kendricks was all over the field on Sunday night which is a great thing to see from the second-year man. Truth be told, many of the Philadelphia Eagles‘ second-year players — especially on defense — are really coming into their own.
Guys like Fletcher Cox, Cedric Thornton, Brandon Boykin, and Kendricks look like emerging stars. Kendricks in particular looks like a real weapon at the linebacker position at Eagles defensive coordinator Billy Davis‘ disposal.
Kendricks can do a little bit of everything. He is a devastating blitzing weapon when called upon, and he can stick opposing tight ends down the field. He also his real instincts for the football and is usually in the right place at the right time to make the tackle.
Kendricks has an extremely bright future. For a while the Eagles went through a turnstile of middling play at the linebacker position, but now it looks like they have found a young stud in the middle to go along with highly productive veteran DeMeco Ryans.
These young guys have had their ups and downs in a new 3-4 scheme but have stuck together and now have reaped the benefits. Kendricks is in the middle of all that, and this team will go as far as this young, play making defense takes them.
