Earlier this off-season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers fired Greg Shiano after a 4-12 season. It did not take them long to vill the void. According to Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer, Tampa Bay is on the verge of hiring Lovie Smith has their next head coach.

The Buccaneers are now set up for success with Smith under the helm. This past year drama not performance dominated the media’s attention of the team. Smith will handle things properly, unlike last year’s coach and general manager. Unlike Shiano, Smith was successful during his coaching days in Chicago.

This is a decision to find a good fit. He will bring leadership to the locker room, while being a leader on the field. With the seventh pick in the 2014 NFL draft, the Buccaneers will most likely draft a quarterback. As long as he declares for the draft, Johnny Manizel will be heading to Tampa Bay.  Maniziel’s 2013 was filled with a lot of unnecessary attention and drama, and Smith will be able to handle it. If anyone can calm down a wild Johnny Football and make sure he becomes a successful NFL quarterback, it would be coach Smith.

Additionally, Smith served four years under Tony Dungy in Tampa Bay, and understands the way things are run. Smith’s hiring in Tampa Bay makes almost too much sense. Add in potentially drafting Manizel, and the Bucs are on their way to making the 2015 NFL Playoffs.
