2014 NFL Playoffs: 10 Bold Predictions For Bengals vs. Chargers

It is finally 2014 and we are only one day away from the beginning of the NFL playoffs. It has been a wild year for many fans out there. The last week of the season was very entertaining, mostly due to all of the late playoff scenarios that unfolded.

One team that many believe would fall short of the postseason in the final weeks was the San Diego Chargers. They overcame nearly impossible odds en route to their first playoff appearance since the 2009 season. The Bolts are back and so is the elite quarterbacking of Philip Rivers.

Their matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals is sure to be an entertaining game. These two teams met in Week 13, where the Bengals defeated the Chargers in San Diego, 17-10. It was an up and down game, full of turnovers and surprises. That is why I expect the rematch to be even more jaw dropping.

The best matchup of the day will be at the quarterback position. Andy Dalton is a great leader and he has some talented targets to hit. A.J. Green is sure to make a spectacular catch or two, or three, on Sunday. Rivers has been excellent and he has some good talent on his side of the ball. Rookie sensation Keenan Allen is a fun player to watch and he will have a chance to show to world just how good he is.

It's no surprise the Chargers are coming in as the underdogs. They hold the sixth and final spot in the postseason, while the Bengals are the third seed. Most people are picking the Bengals to win, but I expect it to be a much closer contest than most thinks it will be. In this post, I am going to give 10 bolt predictions for the Chargers-Bengals game on Sunday.

The Bengals are good at protecting the ball and the Chargers are not so good at getting takeaways. It will be a shock when the Chargers get after the Bengals, forcing multiple turnovers.

3. The Chargers Will Hold The Bengals Under 21 Points

Chargers
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Bengals have a high-octane offense, and put up close to 27 points per game in the regular season. The Chargers' defense will step up, knowing they have to be better than usual in order to hold the Bengals below 21 points.

2. Philip Rivers Will Throw Three Touchdowns Or More

Rivers is having one of his best seasons yet, but three or more touchdowns against this Bengals defense in the playoffs will be a story he will be yelling to his slew of kids for years.
