Philadelphia Eagles Playing Role of Most Dangerous Team in NFL Playoffs

The NFC East champion Philadelphia Eagles are not supposed to be in the playoffs. They’re not supposed to be turning heads and making such drastic improvements so quickly. Unfortunately for the rest of the league, the Eagles have really taken to head coach Chip Kelly’s innovative methods and they are riding the wave of success right into the playoffs. They’ve accomplished things that few thought they were capable of entering the season and now their confidence is building.

Everyone expected to see a high powered offense led by tempo based play riding the coattails of the stars which comprise Philadelphia’s offensive roster. However, few would have projected the defense to come along as quickly as they have or a for second-year quarterback to turn heads while playing like an NFL veteran.

Although they give up plenty of yards, the defense has drastically improved and really made the Eagles a dangerous opponent entering the playoffs. They create turnovers, they get stops when they’re needed and with each passing week they continue to improve. They simply improve upon small aspects of the game each week and provide the offense with enough support to give Philadelphia a chance to win.

Nick Foles is quickly stepping into the spotlight, becoming a star and showing his uncanny ability to play with the confidence of a seasoned pro while protecting the football, moving the offense and proving naysayers wrong. He has demonstrated that he has the skill and capability of keeping the tempo of the offense fast, the intelligence of calling plays and reading defenses on the fly and of making the Eagles relevant again.

Add to those the fact that league leading rusher, LeSean McCoy, has been getting better as the regular season has come to a close and the division was on the line, and the Eagles quickly become a contender.

As the weeks pass and Philadelphia continues to build confidence, they become that much more dangerous because they can move the football, score points and now they can provide a viable defense.

Look out for the Eagles to make some unexpected noise in the NFC by knocking off giants that were considered real contenders heading into the season and taking advantage of the youth and commitment that have brought them this far.
