Now that the offseason has officially begun for the Philadelphia Eagles, one of the biggest questions heading into the 2014 season will be whether or not wide receiver Jeremy Maclin will be back for his sixth season with the team–especially after the former first-round pick missed all of 2013 after suffering a torn ACL. While the best chance of Maclin returning to the Eagles next year seemed like it would come on a one-year deal as a way to prove he was still capable of being an effective wide receiver, it appears one of the top Philadelphia Eagles rumors this week involves the two sides already having an agreement on a deal.

If what Ashworth claims is true, this would be great news for the Eagles as the wide receiver position was one of their top concerns heading into the 2014 season. While DeSean Jackson is still under contract, Philadelphia still needs to decide whether or not they would want to bring back Riley Cooper (free agent) as the wideout is coming off the best season of his career in 2013 with 47 catches for 835 yards with eight touchdowns.
Sure, Cooper’s numbers may not have been the same if Maclin was healthy, but you can’t ignore the unexpected chemistry established between Nick Foles and Cooper throughout the 2013 season–and the Eagles know that. It’s still early in the offseason, but if Philadelphia manages to bring back Maclin along with Cooper–this offense should be fun to watch again in 2014.
