The last time the Carolina Panthers and San Francisco 49ers locked horns, Jim Harbaugh‘s crew was at a clear disadvantage. Carolina strutted to town winners of five straight and the Panthers would wind up o stretching that number to six and leaving San Francisco with a hard-fought victory back in Week 10. Now, the tides have turned just a tad as the Panthers are still red-hot, but so to are the reigning NFC Champions.
In fact, that Week 10 matchup saw two of the 49ers’ biggest play-makers sit on the sidelines for most of the afternoon. Tight end Vernon Davis has over 850 receiving yards on the season, but the injured tight end was only able to muster up one catch for two yards against Carolina before leaving the game due to a concussion. Well, Davis is now full-speed ahead after 37 yards and a touchdown in his last outing versus the Green Bay Packers.
On top of Davis being back in the line-up, wide receiver Michael Crabtree is also in the fold after missing the first 11 games of the year. We all know about the Colin Kaepernick-Crabtree connection as this dynamic duo helped lead the 49ers to Super Bowl XLVII last February. But, before San Francisco can talk about this year’s Lombardi Trophy it must first knock off the Panthers.
Moreover, the 49ers are definitely stronger than they in Week 10, but it’s up to Davis and Crabtree to show the world that dominant San Francisco football is here to stay.
