If you can’t stand the heat then stay out of the kitchen. And if you’re Dwayne Bowe and can’t stand the heat then don’t sign a five-year $56 million contract. Everyone knows that to whom much is given, a lot is expected as Bowe performed well under expectations in 2013. With Alex Smith at quarterback and Andy Reid as the team’s new head coach, many NFL fans projected the Kansas City Chiefs‘ wide receivers to make great strides. Instead, Bowe made more plays off of the field then he did on it.
In November, Bowe was arrested for marijuana possession, but was never penalized by the NFL or the Chiefs, Even still, Bowe find a way to turn it into a “pity party” of sorts by painting a picture of racial profiling:
“You’re trying to live right and the police [are] after you, everybody wants a piece of Dwayne Bowe and I had to learn that the hard way. That’s how it is.”
So there you have it. The entire state of Kansas City is out to get a wide receiver, who is one of just 53 players on a team that the town embraces like none other. Bowe sounds like a paranoid man, and I wouldn’t be surprised if his off-the-field antics forced the Chiefs to boot him out of town this time next year — despite his hefty contract.
