Jadeveon Clowney didn’t do much in his junior season with the South Carolina Gamecocks. Despite some Heisman Trophy consideration in the offseason, Clowney was quickly targeted as claims of laziness, immaturity and lack of discipline all clouded the defensive end’s last year under Steve Spurrier. Furthermore, Clowney was still disruptive in 2013 as No. 7 remains the best defensive player in the 2014 NFL Draft.
However, before Clowney can hear his name called this May he must first showcase his abilities in one of the most watched events in all of football — the NFL Scouting Combine.
Let’s be honest; when the term “workout warrior” was first coined a player like Clowney was definitely in mind. With his freakish speed and unruly strength, Clowney knows that he can do some real damage in shorts and a tee shirt. In fact, here’s what the defensive end had to say about how much he’s looking forward to the combine:
“the numbers I am going to put up are going to be amazing.”
Well, Clowney surely doesn’t need a hype-man as the surefire first-round pick is doing all of the talking he possibly can. Furthermore, let’s hope that Clowney can walk the walk at the NFL level, because we all know that he has no problem talking the talk.
