As soon as the NFC Championship Game ended, Richard Sherman went nuts in a postgame rant to sideline reporter Erin Andrews, who was pretty scared by the outspoken cornerback. Just moments after making the game-winning play to seal the deal with an end zone interception of Colin Kaepernick, Sherman blasted intended receiver Michael Crabtree, saying he would shut the San Francisco 49ers receiver’s mouth. Apparently Crabtree said something about Sherman before the game, but he definitely regrets that now!
Look, you can say all you want about how Sherman needs to grow up and all that garbage but here’s the bottom line: The guy is the best cornerback in the league and he can make the plays to back it up, so why knock him for showing a little confidence? Sure, he’s cocky and he’s got the swagger of Mike Tyson in his prime, but the guy now has the preliminary belt to validate his claims. And if his Seattle Seahawks beat the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII, he’ll definitely have a claim to fame.
Sherman’s confidence is exactly what’s needed for a defense that’s about to face Peyton Manning in the biggest game of the year, so while it may rub some people the wrong way, those are probably the same ones who got beat by a guy just like Sherman back int the day. You know what they say: Don’t hate the player; hate the game.
