Many Atlanta Falcons fans are already racking their brains with countless unrestricted free agents that would be a good fit for the team. Hey, can you really blame a fan base that still hasn’t seen a Super Bowl and just endured a painful 4-12 season? No, you can’t.

Atlanta took a major step back in 2013 and now the fan base is getting rather restless. To be fair, last offseason was one of the most boring in recent memory. The only thing that the Falcons did in the summer of 2013 was re-sign Matt Ryan to a major deal and beg Tony Gonzalez not to go into retirement. Needless to say, this offseason is bound to be a totally different story as both sides of the ball are full of question marks for the Falcons.

However, the biggest story out of Atlanta this summer is going to revolve around wide receiver Julio Jones. On Monday, the Falcons’ top wide receiver was given a bit of a thumbs up from head coach Mike Smith. Atlanta’s HC reiterated that Jones is on track to return to football activities this spring with the rest of the team. Without Jones for a long period of time, the Falcons can kiss the NFC South goodbye. And that is exactly why Falcons fans need to be keeping a close eye on No. 11 this offseason as he heals from a broken bone in his foot suffered in mid-October of 2013.
